I have a customer with a MICS 6.1 with a PRI and a NAM. They have the main number going to a receptionist phone(ext2100). They have a T7406 with a ans/dn(ext.2100) appear/ring on it. They want calls to ext.2100 to ring a couple other exts if it it not answered. If it is not answered the call goes to the general mailbox. if I use a hunt group to answer the main # then que to another hunt group for a delayed answer as Marv advised in an earlier port. Would this affect the night service which is controlled by a manual button. Thanks for any info!

Depends on how do you want night service to operate. So please elaborate.

Sorry for getting back so late. I dialed into the system and it turns out the main # goes to attendant 1 after 4 rings. There are no services turned on. They just want the main number to get answered. If not the general mailbox gets the caller. Thanks again for any help.

Also will a hunt group line answering scenario affect the auto attendant picking up the main # after 4 rings during after hours?

You need to press a Night button if you want a call go to AA right away during after hours time. There is no other way to have Day mode ring separate from Night mode other then use a Night button.

If the voice mail is set to answer after 4 rings it will do so. Even if lines are in a HG. As long as the overflow of the HG is longer than the AA delay.

I talked to the customer today. They want dial zero during the auto attendant to ring 1 phone. If not answered to ring 2 other phones then go to the general mailbox. I will make the zero out to 1 hunt group then if not answered que to another hunt group (2 other phones). If not answered que to the v-mail dn. I will make the 2nd hunt group be an alternate ext. for the gm. This should work, right?

Yes it will work as long as you don't create a MB for the 2nd HG. Zero out does not have to be a HG (you're only ringing one phone). The forward no answer of the 1st phone could be either a HG or just a 2nd DN with a 3rd having an answer DN of the 2nd. Although HG is far more "elegant".
Having a HG DN as an Alt ext to the GDM will serve no purpose because it's only a phantom DN. The purpose of the Alt ext to is light MSG waiting on a 2nd (real) DN.
My only concern is the length of time the caller has to wait to get a voice mail. They'll probably be waiing at least 8-10 rings. There will be complaints.

It worked like a charm. The NAM didn't have a setting for alt ext. This is only for the zero out for auto attendant. The rings to gen mail was about 7 rings. The customer likes it! Made me look like a super tech! Thanks for the help!
