I try to access the Telephony services but can't.
System posts message: "Telephony programming is not available, a connection to MSC has not been established. Please try again later"
The system is working fine and access to the Call Pilot manager is OK. Does anyone have any ideas what has happened?

You may logged in through the phone and system won't let you in.

Fairly common on the ver 3.6 BCMs I've worked on. I've only learned that a reboot is required to clear this issue. I haven't investigated a patch. I'm not too keen on patches, though

I have the same issue on a 3.5 today, have not tried to cycle power yet. Call pilot is fine and you can access through the phone set, which leads to another question.

On 3.5-3.7 can you access call pilot through a telephone set? I know on 4.0 F983 works but no success on older versions. I know how to use F**system for set issues.

I've never had an issue to get in through the phone set even on the older versions.

I have already replaced a base function tray and the BCM still gives me grief. I probably will reboot after hours but do not have confidence in this system. I am hoping that upgrading to 4.0 will help but still feel unconfortable with the hardware.

It sounds like it may be a Java issue. I have had this happen on PC's running Java 6. and you can't access Telephony.

I know a little about a lot, and a lot about little.

I saw this issue awhile back and it wound up being an issue with the Apache. I will see if I can find the information and get back to you.

Can you console into the unit?

If you can access Nortel and bulletin: 2008008624 Rev.1 it has the steps for restarting the Apache.

If you Google "Nortel bulletin: 2008008624" it will take you to the Bulletin.

Java works fine - it has always worked - It just recently gave me the error - I can see everything else except Telephony programming because of the MSC issue.

I had the same problem on a BCM1000 3.7. I had to initialize the MSC through the serial port on the front of the system. you can also try telenet to it if you have the feature turned on. Pick platform initialize menu, initialize menu, initialize universal platform. This also worked on a BCM200 that I replaced the hard drive. It downloaded the telco info off of theMSC card to the hard drive. Good Luck!
