Dave (Norstar Telecom) and I are trying to get coverage in a rebar reinforced concrete building with two DMC base station antennas.
We are planning to add a repeater, but have a question about the "external antenna."
The "external antenna" attaches to a repeater antenna.
Does the "external attachment" pull in a weak signal to allow a repeater to distribute a good signal within a remote structure, OR
Does it send out a strong "external" signal for use by handsets in an outdoor environment a long distance away?
Help understanding the techniques to get a strong signal outdoors will help us alot!!
Thanks.
Bill

How big is the building and have you installed these DMC units before? We have and we don't anymore. Too much lost time.
Two girls later and I'm back.....lol...been gone a while but see same faces still here. Lol

No,...Neither Dave nor I have installed a DMC. The issue is outdoors. We need to broadcast outside. Is the "external antenna" for broadcasting a directional signal?

Your external antenna will broadcast further, but not directional. You can't put it outside, not built for outdoors; it is placed against the indoor side of building side you want to cover.
The external antenna is CONNECTED TO a repeater, with a provided 3 feet cable. YOU NEED A REPEATER, it can't be installed on a base station.
If you have another wireless solution, go with it.
Yes, I'm a frenchie; have a problem with that?? Well, I do!!

OK - This may help you. 1. You can purchase an external mount enclousure designed for the repeaters from Icon PLC based in the UK. https://www.icon-plc.co.uk/kirk/accessoriesinstallanddeploy.htm 2. 3WM makes a bracket kit for the base stations and repeaters, if you mount the antennas near to steel, it will affect operation, this bracket kit will solve your internal coverage issues. https://www.3wm.ca/catalogue5.html Hope this helps you.
