My location uses a Nortel Phone System with voicemail (M7310 Phones). I want to place call forwarding on my phone to forward to my cell if out of the office. If I place the order for that service through our voice carrier (AT&T), will it work on our system. I believe it's #72 to activate and #73 to deactivate. Or will the phone system no allow that service?

Thank You,

Troy

What system is it? CICS, MICS, also what version is the sofware?

#72 will forward any call to a specific telephone number to another destination. If the line is yours, and yours only (as in no one else on the system has access to it), then you could use that method. Also you can only do this with a POTS line. Unless I am mistaken, you cannot use the #72 forwarding with PRI or T1 service.

Depending on your system and software version, you could probably do this forwarding internally within the Norstar with no additional requirements from your Telco. It will require some set up in the routing on the system if it's PRI or T1.

Around here to activate Call Forward as Rich describes, it's *72, not #72.

Here it is 72 # on. 73 # off.

It will vary depending on the local switch, and how it is set up in software programming.

You're right Dave, *72 is correct. One way to tell for sure is the confirmation tone from Telco (stuttered dial tone).

You could forward the calls on a line by line basis. However, if you want to forward all calls externally from your phone, press Feature 4, 9+Phone number. This is assuming you have to dial a 9 to grab an outside line. You also want to make sure the redirect ring settings are all set to Yes. Do you have a PRI or POTS lines? Does your extension have a DID or private line?

thanks for the replies! - They are POTS lines and the one in question is a DID.

External call forwarding requires version 4.1 or higher.
