That's all to funny. Hey Big Dog (Ed), stopped by and you were not in.

Anywho, what I did was install another system. Did exactly the same thing. I installed a CICS w/6.1 software and it did the exact same thing. What I plan to do is run a cable from the DMark, bypassing all that mess they have in there and see if its Bell South NID box causing the lines not to ring in. Funny thing though, I can call out. I can call in but they do not ring or display when it rings. If I pick up the set on the button line that I dialed into I can talk. I will resolved it or I will throw a shoe.

Are you sure that the lines that are connected to the system are in fact YOUR lines?

This would give you the possibility of calling out but no incoming ringing, unless of course someone calls them on those lines. Then again if they were someone's modem lines for example, you could never hear a ring.

I'm with the BUNNIE! I've had weird and wonderful problems with MICS/CICS that were solved by dumbing down the cabinet and THEN doing a STARTUP. They seemed to be generally caused by power glitches un unprotected cabinets. But, not always. Just another thought, don't the MICS flash card carriers have memory caps, too. Cause it seems to me that I had to open up the carrier and dumb it down, too, on one system. DO NOT PULL THE CARRIER, or THE FLASH CARD, WITH POWER ON. And do remove the flash card before opening the carrier to dumb it down. John C.

Well, that is one thing I can say. In this home they have cables all over the place. And I am limiting my time there. I have no intentions on tracing these lines. I had the homeowner and one of his friends run a new cable from the outside box to the inside. I am out of town now. When I get back I will give it a try. I did not remove the system. The customer/client did. Not sure what he did in removing it but the software seems to be saturated/corrupted. When I get back in a few weeks I will attempt to resolve their issue if I can. Other than that its a headache in what they did.

We have had this same situation due to the fact the telco wasn't providing enough ring voltage/current on the CO. We could even put a testset on the demark and it would ring the buttset, but not the system. We contacted the telco, they increased the level slightly and we were good to go...........after several hours of scratching our heads.

And ALWAYS, when in doubt, check the ring power with a standard 500/2500 set. Most buttsets today have a very low R.E, maybe 0.3, while most systems have a requirement of at least 1.0. So the buttset rings, but the system will not recognize the incoming ring. Check it with a REAL bell. Even a straight line ringer in a box has an R.E. of about 1.0. A very handy test device, but most telco techs have no idea what a straight line ringer is. They DO recognize a 2500 set! MAKE SURE IT HAS REAL BELLS, not an electronic 'ringer'. John C.
Edit: Take a look at this post in "Installers" Testing phone lines .

I will be back in Florida in a week. It does ring with a butt set but does not ring with the system. That was my next step but had to catch a plane the next day. Hey you guys, are all very helpful and much appreciated. Got to stop in and see my favorite Norther Virgina (Big Dog Ed) last week. Thanks.

BTS01. I do not have 500/2500. Have not seen one in a while. I do not have a Real Bell Ringer also. I can probably find one of those. But I will check it out like you said when I get back to Florida.

If you are going back through Northern Va., see Ed again. Dimes to donuts he's got several ringers, several 500 sets, and several 2500 sets, in the fabled warehouse! smile John C.
