We have a Nortel Norstar System.
We would like to determine the number of simultaneous calls that is set-up. How do I check this?

That depends upon the number of CO lines connected to the system. You can have one call per phone line. Internal calls are non-blocking.

Yep, Ed is on spot. 5 inbound/outbound lines = 5 simultaneous calls. Unless you have Call Waiting on the lines.

FYI, that applies to ANY phone system, not just Nortel...

thanks for the replies. Are there any settings on the Nortel system to further limit the number of simultaneous calls.
Not that we need it, I'm just checking.

Try calling your carrier to determine how many lines are in your hunt group starting with the main number

yes. you can limit the apperance of lines but if theose lines are in a hunt group then you face additional problems that will need to be addressed.

There is a limit to simultaniously answered calls if you are using an automated attendant. The limit is the number of voice mail ports you have.

Not that we need it, I'm just checking. So, are you asking for the limitations as far as the sytem capacity is concerned? If so, it will depend on which Nortel system you have. Do you know what system it is? Find out which type of system it is, and try to find the software level too.
