We are installing a new CICS 7.1 at out Atlanta office. I know how to administrate the system and voicemail (CallPilot 3.1) but need some help on initial setup.
When a call comes in during day mode (normal ringing service) needs to ring extension 4021 after 4 rings go to AA.
Night service: Go strait to voicemail. However it needs to be on a delay so that caller ID may pass through.
Quick notes: We have a caller ID card. They company I work for likes 4 digit extensions. Go figure when there are only 8 people.
Thanks in advance, Mac

If you setup a ring group which includes the CP, it will answer immediately and you won't get the CI. Just leave it at a 4 ring delay day and night.

Thanks. So there is no way to program it to answer after 2 rings at night and 4 during the day?
My boss is very particular about this kind of stuff.
Thanks.

I am just curious, but if no one is there, why do you want the Caller Id?

I don't know without trying it, but you could put a spare ext in the night group and set its call forward no answer to 2 rings to VM. Don't put a box on that ext. Don't put the VM in that ring group either. Make sure that ext doesn't ring on any lines during the day.

Because when it ends up in my mail box, and the person does NOT give his phone number, OR the person gives the phone number but you can't understand him, then I can get his number from the caller ID envelope.

Thanks. Unfortunately the geniuses at Nortel didn't allow for such a scenerio.

You could get a call accounting system. It will cost a bit, but the solution would actually be better as you could get all of your calls accounted for, both incoming and outgoing.

Well they like caller ID at night because sometimes we have staff here working late.
I talked to my boss. We can do without the caller ID at night.
At night when a call comes in and the phones are set to night service, we want call pilot to answer instantly.
That part is already accomplished. But when they are in night service, extension 4021 (operator) rings a half of a ring when a call first comes in. How do we make this stop?
I have checked the ring group and this extension is not there, and the lines do not have that set as prime.
What do you think?
