I have had two Startalk Flash units fail, I suspect due to dirty power. In both cases, the flash unit itself survived nicely, but the software card failed. I was able to get both units operational again by replacing the cards. I am hoping I can avoid a repeat of this problem by backing up the software on the card and then being able to reformat the card and rewrite the software should the card corrupt in the future.

Finally, my question; since these cards are actually "normal" flash memory cards, they should be readable and writable by the card reader like those in older laptops. How is this done? I can't get my laptop to recognize these cards. There is a company called elan digital systems who say their Memory Card Explorer software will read and write any kind of card, but they no longer offer a demo. I can't spend hundreds of $ to see if their software works. Does any one have any experience with this? Does anyone know where I could get a hold of the DEMO version of Memory Card Explorer?
Thanks,
Roddy
