I'm working with a Call Pilot 100 rel 2.0 software that was fully functional as of 5 days ago (tested at customer site AND in my whse). System is MICS w/6.1 software. Customer complained 2 nights ago of the VM going down...upon bringing the VM back to my office, it will not boot. When plugging in power supply (tried 2 different 8v 1.7 PS, by the way), Ports 1 & 2 light solid immediately, the 10/100 light never lights up, and the other 2 vertical lights are solid immediately...no boot up at all in Hyperterminal...I never get anything in Hyperterminal...the vertical lights go out if I unplug the LAN cable, but the port lights don't go out, even if I unplug the RJ11's. Software in the down slot. Again, this VM worked on this test phone system 5 days ago and I can get other Call Pilots to work on it as of this morning. Any suggestions? Fried motherboard? What do these solid lights mean upon start up? No booting at all. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

hello, I have had this happen on many occasions.
the callpilot will only boot so far and then stop.
Apparently the power supply had an issue and nortel came out with a new one. each time i have changed the power supply it has fixed the "non boot" problem. I am not in a position right now to tell you what part number it is but this could possibly be the problem.
hope all works out.
sincerely,
crybrook

Almost sounds like its not seeing the pcmcia card. I dont remember if thats what it does been awhile. I'll have to try and fire one up tomorrow with out the pcmcia card to see if thats what happens.
Have you tried to stick it into a laptop to see if you can see the files on it?
I've actualy fixed a damaged software card using a good one.

The first 2 CP100's that I ever installed both had bad software. They were brand new from a Nortel dealer. I would try new SW.

There was a recent post that stated that some software cards had the label on the wrong side and therefore wouldn't boot until you turned the card around. Might be worth a try.

Thanks for the help, guys. I pretty much pushed this unit aside and gave up. If memory serves me correctly, I tried different software cards. I guess I'll try the upside down card thing...after that, I'll report my findings and scratch my head at the same time.

The wrong label issue was for CICS.

Do the laptop hook up and see whats going on.

Sometimes simple upgrade helps too but could be anything realy.

Take a quick look inside, I have repaired a few CallPilot 100's that had blown a small surface component.
