I'm going to swap out a possible faulty DTI card with another. Any pitfalls I should look out for? eg. losing the key code, etc.

In a world where "anything can happen" be prepared for anything.
Yes, it is possible for the system to default, etc..
But in general - as long as you power down before taking card out, it should be a quick replacement.
If CON is the opposite of PRO
Then what is the opposite of Progress?
