Hey all haven't been here in a while but don't get much for troubles I can't figure out on Nortel. Anyway I have a CICS ver 4.0. Customer just switched their service provider from the main carrier here "Fairpoint" to a secondary carrier that uses Fairpoint copper and delivers their services via a circuit. Well after the cutover the outside calls are ringing the phones exactly like an internal call ie the double ring vs the single long ring. I'm assuming due to lower ring voltage, haven't tested yet. The only thing I can find in the book is "feature * 6" "ring type" but that changes both internal and external ringing simultaneously. Question is there anything else in programming I can change? Don't want to have to install ring voltage boosters, Thanks.

Any chance the customer was sold some sort of Centrex service and he's actually getting '2 shorts' rather than '1 long' from the "C.O."?

Actually yes it is Centrex, but they had Centrex with Fairpoint as well. I suppose it is possible that the new provider is sending the 2 short rings, but we found the problem during the cutover. I asked the tech and salesman while they were there about ring voltage and ring type and both were unsure.

Quick and easy test.....put a test set on the line before the CICS and see how it rings.
If CON is the opposite of PRO Then what is the opposite of Progress?

Yes that's the next test, unfortunately I couldn't do any testing the day of the cut and the customer was fine with the ringing for the time being. Actually it's where my wife works so I usually take care of anything they need on the weekends. But the cut of course was scheduled during the week.
