Hey all,

I'm new to the site, but it has helped me out already. So thanks for everyone's efforts. Hopefully, someone can shed some light on a issue I've come across.

At one of the sites that I support, I have a BCM400 system. One of the extensions has an Durafon 1x on it (and a Nortel ATA). I've found out that internal extensions can for forwarded from the phone, using TALK, *, #70, EXT, END. However, external calls to that line cannot be forwarded to an internal extension.

Has any one else experienced this? I will be calling the Engenius support today, as well.

Thanks for you any and all help with this,

- Mike

Welcome Mike: welcome

What is #70 - I have not heard of that. What does it really do??

Can I assume that when you say you press talk that is a Hook Flash ??

Are you trying to Forward a call that should ring on that phone but you want it to ring on another phone?

OR are you trying to answer a call and then Transfer that call to another phone.

To Forward try: Flash(talk?) * 4 ext-number

To Transfer try: Flash(talk?) * 70 ext-number
To transfer you need 2 intercoms assigned to that DN (ATA).

NTlayoff,

Thank you for the kind welcome and for the information.

I must apologize for not replying sooner and for not providing the correct information. Instead of "forwarding", I meant "transferring". I was having problems transferring outside calls to internal extensions. I also meant *70, not #70.

You're right, FLASH/Talk * 70 ext does transfer calls. However, it seems to be doing it sometimes and sometimes not. Of course, when I am on-site troubleshooting the issue, it works like a charm. It seems to not work later when I leave. Such is life, I guess.

Engenius suggested I change the flash time on the phone. I changed it and it really didn't make a difference. And seeing how I've gotten the transfer to work with the default flash time (600ms), I don't think that matters.

Question for you, what do you mean by "To transfer you need 2 intercoms assigned to that DN (ATA)"?

1-Most likely user error. Tell them to take their time. Press "Flash" wait a second then *-7-0, then ext number.

2-As Jim stated, you'll have to have two Intercom buttons assigned to that extension.

For an analog phone on an ATA unit, calls come in on the intercom path. To transfer to another extension, it uses a second intercom path.
It is standard programming in the Phone admin programming under the extension number.

Can I assume that when you say it works while you are there but not later, you mean does not work for the customer.

I found that on analog phones, to get features like that to work it is a timing issue.
I find it does not work when you press Flash and immediately press * . And it does not work it you wait too long to press the *.
You need to find the correct timing between the Flash and the *. Usually I wait at least 1/2-second but no longer than 1 sec.
Try it and find your pause time that works.
I find it is a deliberate pause but a short pause. Just hitting the two buttons one after the other is when I find it does not work.
