Howdy,

Does anyone know of a toaster out there that will emulate digital extensions on an MICS to allow for remote T7316 phones via IP?

We want to run remote IP phones off our customer's MICS to a remote location and are wondering if anyone's familiar with or knows of a digital to VOIP converter box.

I may be wrong on this but the MCK (6000 series?) will extend phones via IP also.

you may find it a feasible option to look at IP Office. Run your nortel sets in house and run some true IP phones remotely.

How would you address 911 dialing with these remote digital sets?
It could be bad news if emergency personnel arrived at the home office after one of those remote sets dialed 911 and it were treated the same way as if one of the sets local to the MICS dialed 911.

Remote phones are typically secondary phones in houses, so that normally wouldn't be an issue, but its an interesting question.

Doesn't matter. When I call 9-1-1 on my cellphone, the Highway Patrol answers and routes accordingly.

What happens if a person can't talk and hangs up on 911 for some reason? Do they still route it accordingly or do they dispatch an officer to the address that shows up on their display?

work-from-home is one scenario - user would probably grab the home phone for 9-1-1, but in a panic, who knows?

what about the sattelite office scenario - 2 to 10 IP phones connected thru the main office switch? I think IP phones are going to create a real mess for 9-1-1! At least with a cell phone they should be able to triangulate or GPS the location of the phone.
