Hello! I recently took over a previous employee's Norstar phone. I was able to get the password, name and greeting changed, but there are 199 unread messages in the mailbox... Is there any way I can dump all of those messages without having to go through them and delete one by one?

Easiest way is too just delete the mailbox and reinstall the mailbox with you as the new user. You will need system admin rights to do this.

And if you don't have admin rights, remember that you do not have to wait for each message to play. Just sit there and hit the 8 key over and over and over. ( or if you have the CP interface, hit 76 over and over and over )

Hitting the 8 key, 199 times, won't take that long. :toothy:

I was checking on a client recently (busy telemarketing office) after they complained about not getting important messages.

I checked the General Delivery MB (manned by a PYT who was only interested in her nails and Facebook).

"You have 5,783 new messages..." eek

Now remember...you can't delete the General Delivery MB. I told her to get busy and start pressing "Erase" a whole bunch.

Ouch! Sometimes I forget that the general delivery can take messages until the system is pretty much full

I was surprised the mailbox didn't read "Mailbox Full". Other mailboxes on the system did say "full". A lot of the GD messages were hang-ups, though.
