We have an issue thats been ongoing for months. Customer had a CICS and kept getting call drops and lines all going on holds at times. Never same line or phone. Telco checked lines repeatedly and all OK (they say). Replaced in sept with BCM and within days the same events and at times the system would reboot itself. continued doing so and the whole system was replaced with new unit(base and exp and PS bricks)11 days ago. All good for about week and then it to started dropping calls, all lines on hold, system resets. Yesterday I watched it reset 6 or 7 times in an 2 hr period. We had vendor meet and telco assures that lines are good, electrician tested and verified AC is good and dedicated circuit, New 1300VA APC was install a couple weeks back and voltage solid at 123/124 per display. All new sets, jacks and line cords installed a couple weeks back as well.
Any ideas or directions! Thanks

Have you checked the lines for proper voltage and loop current yourself? The telco is only going to connect a butt set and place a test call. I've seen this same thing happen with a Norstar that had some OPX circuits connected as CO lines. When they placed calls on hold, they would either drop or the system would shut down.

It turned out that the telco had the line voltage set at over 80 volts DC, supposedly to compensate for the long loop length.

Not yet but will asap, they(telco) actually has done a bit more than that even put in new demarc panel etc. I was convinced it was the lines but the system completely resetting makes me wonder about that. Not real solid on the BCM but have never seem a line issue cause any other brand system reset multiple times, drop call yes(alot)
thanks.

You've changed the system twice, yet you still think it's the system. Not likely!

Not really but just unsure how co line can reset a system

any ideas on how to PROVE you are correct would be greatly appreciated. Remember what we KNOW but cant prove.....doesnt help with telco.
I have recomended they move to TW service to solve this but I can not tell them factually they need to do so.
thats why I am asking for help here!

Well, I can't "Prove" anything from here. I'm just going by what you've stated:

a) system changed twice i/c power supplies
b) new ups
c) new sets
d) new jacks & line cords

So, in theory at least, you've taken YOUR part of the setup out of the equation.

That leaves the lines & electrical. I take whatever the service provider states with a grain of salt. That leaves the electrical. I'll tell you a story, so bare with me for a bit.

Years ago, when I was still with Bell, we were having "issues" with our computers. Electrician tested everything, building dept installed a "Line Recorder" on the electrical circuit and left it for a week. According to their recorder, the power stayed at 120 vac constantly.

So we called the "Special Services" (or Data group) at Bell. Their tech installed a "Line Recorder" (actually some fancy-dancy $50,000 test set on the line). Within a couple of minutes, he found the problem.

The power was fluctuating all over the scale. For example it would read 120 vac for x seconds then drop to 88vac for x second, go up to 138 vac, down to 94, and this kept going up and down. Not always the same readings, but the fluctuation was constant.

They told the Bldg dept to get Hydro to install a regulating transformer and that solved the problem.

Therefore, you may want to suggest that to your client. You can even buy a small regulator yourself and try it. I wouldn't rely on the UPS, even if it is "regulated". Just my opinion.

after your last post went looking thru back shelves and found a couple APC LR1250 line conditioners. What is your thought on using thone of these as per your suggestion. If so Before, after, or in place of the 1300va UPS/AVR already in place.

Thanks again
