I currently own several Nortel Meridian telephones and would like to hook them up in a small office setting. We have about 6 offices but really only use one phone line and one fax line. Don't really need a PBX system but since I have the phones, why not. I have the opportunity to purchase a Nortel NT-7B53FA system to make it all work. I am just looking for any advice that anyone has to offer with this system. I am a novice when it comes to phone systems but pretty tech savvy. I am familiar with toning wires to locate jacks etc, but never hooked one up before. (only used it for computer networking) My office is wired with all jacks going back to a central hub, where I plan to install the system. Seems like a pretty straight forward setup but I am always looking for a catch. I currently have two M2006 model phones and one M7310 phone. Will all these work with the system I listed? The phones were basically free and I can buy the control unit for around $100. If it will cost much more, I will probably just scrap the project. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The only phone that'll work is the M7310. The otheres are not compatible.
It'll cost you WAY more than that to get it programmed. This system is WAY too large for your environment, regardless of the cost.
Just buy 6 $10 phones & be done with it.

The guy who is selling me said it would work if I hooked up the system and plugged in the phones. I assume he is full of it? I wouldn't be surprised as he is trying to sell it. Is there a small system you would recommend? I just have the one voice line and the fax line, although I may add another voice line in the future. I figured it was overkill, what would you suggest?
