My impressions of Talkswitch as a company are favorable.
Overall, though, I'm quite happy I bought it.
A couple months ago, I was looking for a very configurable system and learned about Talkswitch after posting a message in this forum.
I have to agree with you that for my needs (detailed in my earlier post), the Talkswitch was perfect, easily set-up (which also means I can modify it whenever the whim hits me or I come up with a new idea).
I agree that it is disappointing that u-law is the only format, but I had good results with conversion. I think I used Windows Media Player, but you say you had bad results with that.
I also agree that the Talkswitch folks are really good with assisting when it comes to questions. I have one extension outside and I wanted to configure it so it could dial 911 but no other numbers. They promptly responded with a solution.
I'm surprised that Talkswitch sometimes gets bashed here, but it might be related to the fact that it is "consumer unit" which does not require professional installation or support.
