My impressions of Talkswitch as a company are favorable.

Overall, though, I'm quite happy I bought it.
A couple months ago, I was looking for a very configurable system and learned about Talkswitch after posting a message in this forum.

I have to agree with you that for my needs (detailed in my earlier post), the Talkswitch was perfect, easily set-up (which also means I can modify it whenever the whim hits me or I come up with a new idea).

I agree that it is disappointing that u-law is the only format, but I had good results with conversion. I think I used Windows Media Player, but you say you had bad results with that.

I also agree that the Talkswitch folks are really good with assisting when it comes to questions. I have one extension outside and I wanted to configure it so it could dial 911 but no other numbers. They promptly responded with a solution.

I'm surprised that Talkswitch sometimes gets bashed here, but it might be related to the fact that it is "consumer unit" which does not require professional installation or support.

Not at all. Just from your limited experience into the telco world you have nothing to judge it by. I have personally bought them and installed them. If you can work under the limitations..they are a good bang for the buck. I JUST ripped one out from a DIY, which this guys seemed to do a nice job but could not stand the fact you couldn't do certain things like..oh, have line appearances. He did a great job and apparently his unit was having tons of issues for to talkswitch's credit they credited him for his system and took it back.
