I have a long time customer who purchased a BCM50 and is looking to expand. It's difficult to pin down a time to install this and we finally decided this morning. But I decided to hit the tech talk page to see if I needed anything and now I have questions. I have worked on Nortel and I presently do all the programming on the system. I have a 32 port card that I want to put in place of a 16 port. Will there be a special keycode for this or the mere fact that an expansion cabinet exists is sufficient and is there a license required? Also, although I have the instructions for installation it doesn't tell me what the switches are for. One more: Is there a way through programming to find the MAC code for the voice mail to expand the ports. I can't find anything on the BCM itself. Any ideas on a decent call accounting system for this unit? Thanks. JD

32-port card - I assume you mean module.
For the BCM-50 it should work on factory default.
It should be the same as the working 16-port unit.
No extra key code is needed. You already have the expansion keycode.

MAC Code - I assume you mean system ID so you can get Mail Box key codes.
In programming under System/Keycodes then look for system ID.

Thanks for the response. I'll give it a shot on Monday. Any clue about the five switches on the back of the card or will they emulate the 16 port card. JD

Leave the DIP switches at default settings. Not used on the BCM 50.

Well I installed the module finally and I seem to have a problem with the system recognizing the 2nd 16 ports. The phones keep flashing like they are in a startup mode. When I go to the hardware section it shows a DSM 16. When I try to change it, it does not do anything. Any ideas?

Did you disable the DSM16 then change to DSM32+ then Enable?

I finally got back to the site. Fortunately there was no crucial need for the extra phones. Thanks to NTlayoff for the simple solution. It worked and thanks to the other responders who gave me more insight in what to look for with other situations. Does anyone have an idea for a call accounting program. I've dealt with a couple that sold me stuff I didn't need so I prefer not to deal with them. The customer does not need any cost factors. They just want a monitoring type of system. Thanks again to all.
