I need a programmable extension to allow Busy/NA transfer for our urgent call center. Our v3 KXTD1232 dual cabiniets do not appear to work with FWD to CO with the TVS120.
Can I put a resistor or ?? on the 66 Block to simulate a phone/ringer? Without damage or adverse effect?
Any other suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks

I've nevr done it and I wouldn't suggest it. What I have done in situations where the A/A (or in your case the TVS 120) has to transfer to an outside number, (say a cell or home phone) is to have a custom menu that may say something like: if this is an emergency please press 1 and remain on the line. In this case "1" would be set to "transfer to EXT.#" (an XDP extension that really only exists in the system) put your butt set on the 66 block for that XDP port and forward all calls to your out side number. If this is a number that changes quite often then I would put a cheap SLT set on it even if you have to put a wall jack at the MDF. you can always shut off the ringer but it should be set for no incoming calls anyway. You could also put it in someones office, (say yours or whoever has control of who's on call) and plug it into the XDP port of your set. You could easily test it every day before you leave simply by calling that XDP extension. The downside to this is it does tie up 2 CO lines, (the incoming and the one the XDP uses to call out on and the audio volume suffers slightly. Gem

Thanks for the information MrGemini. The suggestion to add an inexpensive phone that can be verified has merit. The lines are not a real problem as this would be after hours almost exclusively and we 12 or so lines.
I gave it a try and that will do the trick. Most of our office phones are 7030s and there is no XDP (would have been ideal to pass the SLT and cell together as a reminder!). I may mount a surface jack in an easily reached location near the telecomm room in the event it needs to be changed.
One less hurdle to get my task completed. Thanks!

Strong, just out of curiosity how did you end up with a dual cabinet digital 1232 and no digital phones? you can take any open port and activate the XDP in program field 600, just don't use an analog keyset. Keep in mind that you don't have to activate the XDP to use an SLT you could still use it as a stand alone or in parallel w/ a digital set. It's just that when you activate the XDP it becomes a completely seperate extension and you can still use the digital side of the same port.

"how did you end up with a dual cabinet digital 1232 and no digital phones" We upgraded from a single analog cabinet and only those who needed digital capable phones got them. I am 'indian' so it goes. Thanks for all the help on this project. The tips you provided were exactly what I needed to get moving. We will still likely add an answering service for priority call handling out of the VPS when it can not reach our on call staff and a VPS message is not enough. All is programmed, recorded and waiting for approval and the service to be selected. Fingers are crossed ![[Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]](https://www.sundance-communications.com/forum/wink.gif) . strong

I've done this trick and it has worked well for years at one doctor's office. Charles
