Net, I'm not sure what you mean by "echo ring" are you hearing a faint ringing in the background while having a conversation? This would simply be cross-talk or a "dirty or unbalanced" line or a bad ground which brings up another question, how are the co lines coming in? T-1, pots, pairgain ? If these are pots lines it could be any of the above or high loop current. If there on a T-1 it could be the clocking or the line condition or in the smart jack or any # of other problems. Does the problem occur on all co lines? Have you done any basic trouble shooting? Have you contacted your provider? Did you just install this system? Is there a good ground on the system? Is it new or used? Are the lines new or existing? any changes in providers? All these questions are pertinent and it sounds as though you may need a Telcom professional to track this down and even then they may require a vendor meet. Do you have the problem when disconnecting the system and using a butt set or SLT although this isn't a true test as the IC in a butt set or SLT is different then that of a system and the butt set or SLT can be "more forgiving" however if the problem remains then you know it's from your provider. I really doubt if it's in the system unless it took some kind of power surge or lightning hit. Good luck

From the "8 telephones" description, I wonder if you are just having more than one telephone ring on incoming calls? This would have to do with ringing assignments in programming. Do you have the manual? It would help a great deal if you could be more clear about what you mean by "echo".

Paul, good point. I assumed he was hearing something through the handset. He may very well have multiple phones ringing or delayed ringing or even a hunt set up. Your right on the money as to needing more definition of the problem.
