I have moved on phone to a new extension (from 117 to 116). I cannot figure out how to get the doorphones to ring on the new extension. Can it be programmed from the phone or is it necessary to program from the 816. Thanks in advance

The doorphone ringing assignments are in the system programming of the TD816.
How did you have extension 117 on a TD 816 unless your using flexible numbering for the ports in which case you better make a port to Ext. list or keep a display set handy to plug in and use station programming to find out what the ports are.
OR is this a basic TD1232 with no expansion?
Either way the program fields are 607 & 608
