I know a little about phone systems... right now I'm just trying to figure out what extensions are what, and where it goes, etc etc...

My question is that some of the extensions have "name labels" on them... so it makes it impossible to figure out the extension they are on and no one here seems to remember what extension "pablo" was at.

How can I remove the names from the extensions?

Also there are 4 lines that go from the punchdown blocks to our "amanda" voicemail server... some of our extensions dont go to their voicemailboxes, but rather to the general mailbox, is this a problem with the extension not dialing the correct box # that needs to be programmed, or a problem with our voicemail server?

I'll have to call on Sir Joe of https://www.austintele.com/ for this
but I would think if you call a display set from any extension it would show the ext. #.
As for the extensions that go to the general delivery box; either they do not have a mailbox or their mailbox is not associated with their extension.
when an extension calls the voicemail it should send some kind of "follow on ID" to let the voice mail know to go directly to that mailbox. Without this you usally get the main A/A greeting but some Mfg. may have it go to the general mailbox. Sometimes when using an aftermarket unit you can not get direct mailbox access.
I'm sure Joe can help you out, either give him a call or maybe he'll chime in. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

Thanks Gem.

You can plug a display phone *into* the jack in question and read from the disp. what extension it is. I like to program name AND number when I'm setting them up.
I've got pgm instructions on my web page. Look to the "tech support" link.
