System Model Information KSU - Panasonic TX-TD1232 VPS - Panasonic KX-TVS100 Problem Description Unable to communicate/program the VPS though HyperTerminal via COM port.
Notes - The communication medium being used is shielded RS-232C cable assembly (DB25 male to DB25 male) that is attached to a serial adapter(DB25 female to DB9 female) which is plugged into COM1(COM2 was also tested). - HyperTerminal settings are as follows: 9600-8-none-1-none. - Rotary switch has been turn to 5; and 1 has also been tested. - Programming on the KSU and VPS have been reset to default. - Four different computers with operating systems ranging from windows 95,98 to XP have been tried and failed. - DPITS has been initialized and tested with the KX-T7235C manager phone by pressing intercom 165(VPS responds).
What’s' Supposed to Happen in my Head From what I have sifted and read though on many pages and forms HyperTerminal must be configured and engaged while the VPS is off. The RS-232C cable with null modem adapter is connected to the PC and VPS. The rotary switch must be positioned at 5(or 1). When the VPS is turned on the little red-eyed Cyclops flashes and there is terminal output on screen indicating; etc. or something like that...

your problem seems to be the cable wireing we would normaly make our own cable
25 pin connector 9 pin connector
pin 1 unused pin 1unused pin 2 goes to pin 2 pin 3 goes to pin 3 pin 4 goes to pin 8 pin 5 goes to pin 7 pin 6 goes to pin 4 pin 7 goes to pin 5 pin 20 goes to pin 6
so as you can see null modem cable just dont work i would assume the states would be the same 2. voice mail doesent require a boot up to start with the cable just plug in with your settings which are correct and press return you can also use procomm.

Noodles, trust me on this. You do need a NULL modem adapter available at any radio shack for a few dollers. Your settings are correct but you should also tell hyperterm no flow control.
