Hey Guys,
Stupid question but I just set up a tva 50 voice mail and I can not seem to get the company greeting to play when I dial in at night. I think I am doing everything wrong even setting it up. How do I do this? I need to know how to record the greeting, how to get to that greeting and how to get it to play when we call in at night. Thanks in advance

I have what may be a stupid question for you.
Where's your installer? This isn't a "plug & play"
unit.
Also what system is this integrated to?

I installed it myself that could be the problem. It is connected to a tda100. everything is working fine.. personel mailboxes call forwarding. I just can't get the main greeting to play. I recoreded it like it said in 998 and selected the greeting 1 from 1-32 but it still plays the automated greeting saying if yuo know the ext enter it now. I want teh custom greeting I recorded to play instead.

Assuming that you have told the system to answer with a Custom Service Message, you need to record the Custom Service Message and not the Company Greeting. They are different animals. You could, of course, have the Company Greeting play first. There are 100 Custom Service Menues available, only 32 Company Greetings. Customer Service Menues allow for single digit choices (press 1 for sales, etc. but Company Greetings are merely a greeting with no choices.

The programming is done in PORT/TRUNK Service, then to Service Group (1), Day/Nite/Lunch/Break, Incoming Call Service=Custom Service Menu. The system will begin with Custom Service Menu 1, so this would be the one to record. Each mode can play a different Custom Service Menu or the same one, but they must be programmed individually in each mode.

Custom Service Message destinations and other features are programmed under Service Settings.

If you want to play a Company Greeting, add the Company Greeting to play in each mode (Day, Nite, etc.)

These programming changes must be done with the TVA Maintenance software.

Randy,
So what your saying is record the main greeting in 998, then set the custom service menu to play that greeting. If that isn't set then I will just get the automated default greeting.

Now this is a real simple greeting it is only going to say if you know your parties ext dial it now or hit 0 for the general mailbox. Still follow the rules you gave

Do you have any written instructions on how to do this that you could e-mail me?
Thanks I appreciate all the help

Company Greeting = "Hello, you have reached xyz company."

Custom Service Menu = " If you know your parties ext you may dial it at any time, for a company directory press 4 now, otherwise you may hold the line or press zero to leave a general message."

The Reason for the Company greeting is so that when a caller goes back or is sent back they do not hear
"Hello you heave reached xyz company" again, sounds stupid and cheap. You don't have to use Greetings but it's more professional IMHO.

As for detailed info on how to set up, it,s in the book that came with the TVA, or call your local installer and have them run you through the software on the CD. :toast:
The TVA dial by name uses both first and last
now if you tell it to, just be sure to enter both names in the system. cool
