This is a first for me. I have a TVS80 and KXTD1232 using KXT7453 telephones. All functions work except we have a flashing message lamp. Not able to get support because of age of unit. Any help??

Try intercom 790 to clear.

DB, welcome to our fourm. I've never heard of the message waiting lamp flashing. Are you saying it's lit or could this be the FWD/DND light? As for the age of the unit, that should have no bearing on Tech. support but that doesn't matter as we should be able to help you out. MrG

OK, that's not controlled by the TVS. It means that the phone is forwarded or in do not disturb. We recommend that all extensions with mail boxes be set to forward to voicemail under busy, no answer. To clear that, press intercom, fwd/dnd and 0. This will clear all forward and do not disturb settings. Again, if it has a mailbox, I would press intercom, fwd/dnd, 5 165 and leave it. MrG

The intercom 790 clears the flashing for the Fwd/dnd button. The problem now, is that when I call an ext ( i.e. 101) the voice mail never picks up. (But I know the vm is connected and on by dialing the vm ext in this case ext 116)
So where in programming do I set the vm to pick up after, say 4 rings? Also the message button on the phones is not working. Can I set this button so that when an ext has a message the message light flashes telling them they have a new meassge, and press it to hear the message? Sorry for the overload! Panasonic is a new breed for me.

Set any extensions with mailboxes to call forward under busy/no answer to voicemail. At an extension with a mailbox press intercom, fwd/dnd and 5165 and hang up. call that Ext. from another extension and see how many rings it takes before the you get there mailbox greeting. As for the message waiting light, that could be a number of things, it may not be activated in the individual mailbox, it may be set to "all calls transfer to mailbox" or it may not be set up in the TVS parameters. we also need to see if the TVS is integrated with DPITS. Dial intercom 165 and see if the voicemail answers. MrG

yes if you dial intercom 165 the vm picks up. But when you do the intercom 5 165 the light flashes. They don't want that. it anawers in 4 rings.

Depending on the version you can have the LED on solid, but in order for the caller to go right into someones mailbox if busy or no answer you will have to have that extension forwarded. Otherwise it should return to the A/A and you will hear, "I'm sorry, no one is available to answer your call, to leave a message press 1" I believe those are your only choices. MrG

You may have to check message waiting in the Class Of Service on the 80.
