I am curious. I have a point to point Data T-1. Oregon to Ohio.

I am Pinging at 100msec. does this seem high?
I would expect about 20-50msec.
I am sending voice so this is rather important.

That does not seem too high. The big thing to look for is any differntial in the times. If it pings 100ms 10 times then jumps to 150ms 1 or 2 times them back to 100ms you have a problem to worry about.

No, it seems pretty consistant. However, I only did a small sample. 103msec average. High 106 low 102, Mostly 103 and 104

As long as you're under 125 msec, your VoIP should be fine. Assuming, as Cracker stated, your jitter is low. Jitter should not be a problem on a T-1.

That is what I'm thinking. I guess it is time to do an extensive test on the T-1

Are you experiencing problems with the voice transmission over the T-1 or are you just curious about the response rates?

I think I have problems, I have not been able to recreate, but the customer is complaining of voice quality and as they always say..."the customer is always right"

Is the Line set for AMI or B8ZS? Have you run tests with a Sunset or T-Bird? If so which ones and for how long?

I guess it's like the times when you take the car into the repair shop and the problem will not be present when the mechanic looks at the car.

I thought maybe you were seeing a variation in some sort of diagnostic result and were trying to prevent a problem in the future. smile

What else is being carried on the T1? If there's other data on the T1 (assuming there is), could you possibly be running into some QOS/TOS issues, where the data steps on the voice traffic?
