Hi guys and gals,
We have a customer currently having a TD816 and TVS120, now wants to have all the Calling information (such as who called in, called out to where?) and all the pending voicemail messages (saved and unread) backup to his PC server regularly.
Do you guys have any ideas how to do this? TIA!

As far as I know it can't be done. The drive format and info on it is all propietary. There is no embedded backup utility and even if there was it's serial communications. Meaning it would take days to back up all the messages if there were many. You could Ghost the drive possibly but you would need another TVS drive onhand to do so. No way to automate it though. Even on the newer TVA voicemails there is no auto back up but you can manualy run a back up which is pretty easy to do.

HuntGroup, I believe there is a way to have the SMDR of the TD816 go into a file, I'm not sure, it's been a while but I'll look into it and get back to you.
If the TVS is calling out it has to do so through the TD816.

Thanks guys! There are 2 different questions actually.
I understand that the outgoing call log should be logged by the TD instead of the TVS, still the only way I can think of relating this subject would only be connecting a RS232 cable to the TD and open the hyperterminal and see the log displaying line-by-line, I'd just can't think of a way to download it to a file or kinda... Any ideas would be much appreciated! huntgroup

There is a free utility that captures SMDR and saves it to a file server and you can access it via the web. It requires a PC with a serial port to capture the SMDR data.

I'll send you the link to Phonelogger via email.

You can backup all parameters of a TVS via serial.
System programing doesnt take too long, 5 min.
CS menues and messages could take 1 to several hours, depending on the volume of messages.

Yes, the only way is smdr for call logging, and backing up messages could take hours, also the vm unit might have to be put off line while doing this. You could change VM to TVM 50 with lan card and have all mailbox's messages sent in a wav file via e-mail to a pc.

Yes, TVS units are offline during back up, as are TVA, but TVA are quick.
