Hi I have never installed a DBS 824 before and had a junk yard call and ask if If I would install and program the caller id card that they were going to purchase from startech and they actually recommended (who are these guys?) that I do the work well my question is did the DBS 824 support caller id at all and if it did was it clunky like the kx-td where it only logs the info in one spot and takes up soft keys to do it? I guess my question is that is it a nightmare getting the caller id to work on the 824 and is there chance of knocking down this system by shuting it down and installing a daugter board on the C.O. card? btw there are no dbs guys around here for miles so thats why I am asking.

The DBS 824 will support CID. It isn't a daughter board on any card. The 824 uses 2x8 combo cards (trunk/extension). The CID board will mount on a flat plane above the the card slots of the KSU. It has no programming other than the call log button on the phone (No KSU programming). It should come with 4 ribbon cables that plug into the exposed portion of the backplane of the KSU. It should also come with installation instructions. Each CID for the 824 unit will support the CID for 4 trunks.
