I am an end user with a KXTD500. We have 12 DID trunks from our telco. They are set up as E&M trunks, wink start. Callers are not hearing ringing when they call our DID numbers. My telco is telling me that they do not provide ringback to callers on this type of trunk. My Panasonic vendor is telling me that the system is set up for ringback to the telco. I don't know who to believe. Is it possible that the system could be set up to send ringback to the telco but callers would still not be able to hear ringing? Do I have a bad card in my KXTD? The vendor says that if the card was bad I wouldn't be able to make calls at all.

The trunks pass through a Vina MX300 Integrator that the telco provides before they connect to the T1 card in my KXTD if this makes any difference.

thanks

this is not a PRI. E&M wink start DID trunks. Is there a system ringback for this type of service?

the Vina is a channel bank/router. Takes a T1 in from the telco and hands off a fractional T1 with 12 E&M trunks to my KXTD. The other 12 channels are mapped to an ethernet interface for Internet. It's just a passthrough box for the 12 trunks.

hey if you cant get the isdn ringback to work.
get a wave file for ringback tone set it on endless loop if you are not using bgm and plug it into moh jack and what will you hear on a transfer bring brrrrring?
I did something similar on a client that wanted
live call screening on the one and only mailbox for the whole house I set system for beep on hold
and then wired the speaker leads of that ext(gave every one in the place a msg light for that ext)and set live call screening and anyone in the place that was in the place that had bgm enabled got common audio of the house box through their speaker and then had a barge in key with an exclusion device to knock out the remote recording

I appreciate the reply, but....

1- it's not ISDN. These are CAS trunks. E&M, wink start signaling.

2- I'm not the vendor. I expect the vendor or the telco to fix the problem. What I'm trying to determine is who is at fault here. Is it the telco's responsibility to provide ringback tone on this type of trunk, or should the KXTD do it?

thanks

not once it hits your csu/dsu if you had a
normal t1 it would most likely work normally
maybe a different csu/dsu iad or what ever
your box between the smart jack and the td is is to blame seems there must be something out there
that creates a frational that should provide its
own ring back . also by defintion I am not sure
ear and mouth trunks have ring back at all
It is really old technolgy now with viop and pri
now ....
