I have a customer with a KX-TA 824 w/ a KX-TVA50 VPS who requested adding 2 new COs. They had 4 COs to start with. The new COs are to only be used by extensions 110 and 111. No problem setting this up. They also want a separate custom service to pickup on these 2 COs. I setup a second service group in the TVA for trunks 5 and 6 and assigned a port. I setup and had the customer record the custom service greeting. I made sure the Day, Night, Lunch, and Break settings were set to the appropriate custom service #. I setup and started over several times and the system still drops the call after playing the recorded message. The custom service was setup properly because I can switch it to service group 1 and it works fine. For some reason it will not work in service group 2. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

You say you assigned a port. Are you calling the assigned port directly or simply calling the regular voicemail number?

Service group 2 is assigned port 2 and trunks 5 & 6. Service group 1 is assigned port 1 and trunks 1-4 and is working fine. As I understood it in class the port assignments can overlap. I've tried it both ways still just drops the call after the recording plays. Custom service is programmed properly. I've done everything but default and reprogramming the VPS. I may endup doing just that Monday.

The system is set for COs 5 and 6 to ring ext. 110 and 111. CO incoming for 5 and 6 are set if no answer within 15s forward to ext. 116. Ext.116 or port 2 of the VPS is assigned to service group 2. Used custom service builder to setup menu & transfer. Its a simple setup they want the caller to hear (if not answered) "thank you for calling blah to speak w/ blahblah dial 110 to speak w/ blahblah dial 111 thank you and have a nice day". I can send the custom service greeting to service group 1 and it will work fine swap it back still not working. By the way I even copied service group 1's menu & transfer settings to service group 2 no luck. I'm just gonna default and reprogram the VPS Monday.

APC, "I setup a second service group in the TVA for trunks 5 and 6 and assigned a port." This might be part of the problem. Use ONLY trunk service for CO's 5 & 6. Nothing in the port assignments. Keep in mind that the when TVA uses the term trunk groups it actually refers to specific CO lines. In the TA824, delay ringing for CO's 5 & 6 on both voicemail ports, 15 and 16 -------------------- MrG

I got in early this morning deleted service group 2 cycled and the VPS. Re-added service group 2 and setup new custom service menu and everything is working great. It's amazing how a 3 day weekend can clear your head. Thanks Kevhawk and MrGemini.
