Hello everyone,

We are a small company looking to purchase our very first phone system. We are looking at the Vodavi XTS and the NEC Aspire as possible options. They both have the features we are looking for, but was wondering whether anyone on this forum has had any expiernce with the reliability of these systems. Any thoughts or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated!

Kana, welcome to the board. welcome
Both are good systems, you need to be concerned more about each vendor. Choose the right vendor and you will be happy with whatever system he/she installs
This has been said many times on this board but it is worth repeating.

Thanks CMDL for the nice welcome.

We are definitely paying a lot of attention to the vendors themselves, I was just making sure there weren't any publicly known reliability issues with the systems. Thank you for your feedback!

The XTS is a very stable platform and a nice system. You can't go wrong with it!

I have very little experience with the NEC Aspire. But, even if I did, I would still be biased towards the Vodavi.

Thanks for the feedback nfcphoneman. I must say, I've been trying to do research on phone systems for two weeks now...I wish I had found this board sooner as this has been a valuable resource!

Kana,

The NEC Aspire and the Vodavi XTS are both very good systems. Both are one of the main systems of the manufactur's. I haven't messed with the XTS very much but have heard from several other interconnects that they are very stable systems.

I have messed with the NEC Aspire. It is a very nice system. Nice looking phones and very stable as well.

On both systems as stated above it is mainly dependent on the vendor installing and supporting the system. Both systems are dealer only systems. This means whoever is selling the system should be able to produce documentation on training and certs. Another thing to check is the length of time that they have been installing the system and references references references. Call every reference that they give you and make sure they are using the system that you are looking at. This will give you a good basis on who to go with.

Sorry for the long winded opinion

Good morning Kana, both are good reliable systems. I am certified on both systems and both have their pros and cons. The Vodavi may be a little bit more user friendly, easier to program but the NEC is very flexible as far as programming. The Aspire does a lot of stuff. In smaller applications I like the Vodavi and bigger I like NEC. I would see exactly what your needs are. Do you need V.M., do you have the need to administer the system yourself, etc. But as mentioned, it comes down to the vendor.

If you are a small company why are you looking at an XTS? The STS does most of what the XTS can do.
