This is for an installation using a KX-TD1232
and TVA-200.

The users have 3 different organizations, each with
a separate CO line. They'd like the TVA-200 to
answer each line with a different greeting, and
perhaps provide different custom service options.

I could only think of 2 ways of doing this, and I've
never done #2...

#1: Directing each CO line to a separate TVA-200
port - e.g. Co-1 to x165, CO-2 to x166, etc..
and setting each port to a different custom
service menu..

problem with this is if they add a rollover line,
and have to use another TVA-200 port, we'd
soon run out of VM ports ( they have only 4
now - though we could get an expansion card
to increase that to 8).

#2: DIL 1:1 each organization's CO line(s) to
an unused extension which has set Call-forward
All calls to Voicemail ( 165). Set that
mailbox's parameters to "personal custom service",
which I assume is like regular custom service -
allows single-digit transfers to other menus,
or extensions.

Or, another setting in the mailbox I found
was Call Transfer status: Custom Service -
does that go to the regular custom service menus?

As I say I've never used #2 - it seems to be
a new feature in the TVA series..

Possible problems: Can you dial an extension
directly from a Personal Custom Service menu?
We'd need that..
Also, it uses up 3 extensions - but I think we
can spare them ( using XDP we have more to
spare..).

Are either of these the best way to go? Or
is there some better way?

Thanks in advance..

Look into trunk service, instead of port service. It does what you want.

What version TD1232 are you working with? I may be wrong on this, but I think you need a certain level KSU to use trunk service. Mr. Gemini, are you out there?

Does this work something like inband signalling?
(as when a user calls x165, the VM is sent
the calling extension's number)..

The 1232 would have to provide the trunk#
calling - but I can't find any reference to it
in my 1232 manual ( it's an old manual probably,
certainly pre-version 7)...

I can see the feature in the TVA200 manual, though..

The 1232 will send the trunk group number to the voicemail. The TVA will ask for the trunk number, but it will mean the trunk group number. Don't ask me why!

trunk service is found on the voice mail units , starting at the 110 , 210 ,310 thru the 125 , 225 , 325 models . I have set these up many times before , they will let you set up to 24 different incomming messages useing costom messages . this is the best way to do what you need to do .... feel free to e mail me with any other questions , I can also tell you how to upgrade the vm system fairly cheep to be able to get the added features you need

It's a TVA200. Why does he need to upgrade?

Yup it's a TVA200. I found the reference to Trunk
service, and will set up a test to try it today.

Kev - thanks for the tip on trunk# = Co group.

This TVA is 1000 miles away - I do the programming
over the phone. The only local unit I have to
learn on is a TVA100, but as far as I know that has
only Port service.

Never heard of a TVA 100. Is this a TVS or a TVA ??
