Can mailboxes be set up that have no actual ext. number? Can get in and build them, but can not seem to remove the ext. number. Have outside volunteers that need to access vmail to leave and retrieve messages. Thanks for any help!

It's connected to a KX-TD1232. They want us to set up some mailboxes for people that do not have telephones.

Create a Phantom Extension and then assign the mailbox to the phantom extension.

If you're not using your XDP extensions, create mailboxes that match those numbers (the 200 range). That way other users can use the VTR feature to transfer callers to these mailboxes.

And to answer your original question, yes you can have mailboxes with no extension assigned.

Can't he also use the ones in the second cabinet and still use the VTR feature?

If I use the XDP extentions, do I need to set CFWD for them? Likewise, If I use a Phantom would I need to set CFWD on them(I assume so)?

Your not using a message waiting light so set them for "all calls transfer to mailbox"
The VTR can still be set up and if that extension is dialed through the A/A it will still go directly to the mailbox.
