Anyone have any idea why? Seems like its dropping a lot of high frequency and sounds muffled.

Is it on all phones? Never had a sound problem system wide. Always ends up being the phone or handset or curly cord.

The problem seems to be on the portables more than the desktop phones. All the phones are new. I am going to head over to where it is installed and do some tests. Just wanted to get an idea what it could be and what I should test.

Which portables are you using? I had a customer with a TDA 100 with 7680's and it acted as though the mic was so sensitive that it was affecting the transmitt and receive. In fact the customer put a small piece of Scotch tape over part of the mic and said it helped. I think the portables are convenient but a pain as far us troubleshooting "issues". Also too many cell stations too close can cause the portables to switch back and forth from cs to cs causing problems.

I am using the ones with the blue screen and the three line display. There is only one cell currently so that shouldn't be an issue. It may well be the mic sensitivity thing though.

I think those are the 7685's. I had one in group of three that I sold to a customer and they complained that the volume was so dim it was unusable. I sent it back to Panasonic repair, they replaced the mic and it works fine now. Maybe there was a factory issue with some of the mics.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I am going to play with them this week. Maybe I need to send them back.
