I have an 824 with 4 co lines. When I use the dial "9" access, it serves the last(4th) CO line first. Does anyone know of a way to program the trunk group to give the first CO line first when dialing "9"? Rearranging the CO lines into the system is not an option as I want my incoming calls to "hunt" from 1 to 4, not backwards. I know this has been discussed before but I don't think anyone has come up with a good workaround. Any advice would be appreciated.

TLB, you will have to plug the CO lines in backwards4-3-2-1 instead of 1-2-3-4.
This has no bearing on how the incoming calls hunt.
The "roll over" (as I believe at&t is using these days)is set by your provider.
You would however have to relabel the CO lines on your sets.

If incoming calls hunt 1-4 then outgoing should be 4-1. Otherwise you are just more likely to collide with an incoming call, in which case many users hear no DT and hang up on a caller.

The issue now days is that with eveyone having caller id or cellphones, when you call them from line 4 it registers the caller id and so if they call you back and line 4 is in use it usually doesn't roll/hunt to line 1. As MrG suggested, plug the co lines in backwards, but maybe if possible, reprogram the flex co buttons so what is labeled as line 1 is actually co 4 etc.
I have very little experience on the 824 so maybe you can't move the flex co buttons around. Its interesting the in the old days of the Kx-t308/616 outgoing preference went from 1 thru 6. Now the 824 is reversed. All TDA's allow you to select outgoing order on a trunk group basis.

That is precisely the issue. If all calls go out on line 4 then returned calls start coming in on 4 instead of the main number. I am surprised Panasonic engineers didn't think of that which is a much bigger issue than the very rare occasion of "glare". I will see if the CO buttons can be relabeled in the system. My only other option is to have the three "rollover" lines changed to "terminals" which have no ANI of their own and when you dial from any of them it shows the main listed number. I have done this with other hunt groups before. Thanks for the help.

Another suggestion might be to have the telco/provider put the lines in circular hunt, or line 4 call forward busy to line 1. This would allow 4 simultaneous calls no matter what number was called. It would possibly be less hassle than having the other lines not display caller id outbound.

Thanks for the suggestions. I contacted AT&T and they are going to convert the last three lines to "terminal lines" which have no number associated with them. When you place a call from any of these lines the data sent out is the main number so it looks as though you are dialing form line 1 all the time. I wonder if many other people know this is available form the telco?

I didn't know you could that. I'm going to check with my vendor tomorrow. Who is your vendor?

That isn't happening in these parts. Contel used to do that to conserve numbers, but when GTE took them over in the early 1990's, that concept went out the window. Today, Verizon won't allow any line to not have a unique number associated with it.

Think about it: This would be a troubleshooting nightmare if all lines showed up as the same number. How would you identify them from a technician's perspective?
