Hello,

A new residential customer is asking if his KXT-616-0 control unit will pass Caller ID info to his KXT-7030 display phone, and if not, can a new caller ID analog phone plugged in to a station port receive caller ID. Or, if a spare pair of wires is present at a jack, would I have to wire the trunk ahead of the Control Unit so he could plug in his Wal-Mart analog Caller ID device? He is paying for Caller ID Service and Verizon claims it is being sent.
Thank You....

Hi, Techroy:

No, I'm sorry to say that the KX-T61610 won't pass caller ID. This system was developed before Caller ID even existed.

Not all is lost though: Your second thought will result in the ability to tell your customer "maybe". In many residential applications using this system, we just wire jacks connected ahead of the KSU with the CO line and use separate Caller ID units. It is dirty, but it is better than nothing.

OR, sell him an 824. Get one of the kits with a couple of the latest phones. They're neat looking and I believe the 7030 will show the CID as well. And yes the old phones will work on the 824. AND the new phone will ,too. (Fancy that! smile ) John C.
