Hi Guys,

I have a TDA-100 system which currently has older non-DECT cell stations connected to a CSIF8 card. We are going to remove the 8 cell stations connected to this card and update the system with 8 new DECT sell stations which will connect to the next available DLC16 ports. I want to pull the CSIF8 card out which will leave slot 3 empty and the new DECT Cell Stations will operate off of the DLC16 card in slot 5.

I believe my first step is to de-register all existing Portable Stations (10), then place the CSIF8 card on slot 3 out of service so I may pull it out (I don’t believe removing this card will change anything else in the system – will it?) I plan to keep the existing 10 Portable Station extension numbers but I’m a bit foggy on how I will reassign those extensions to the new KX-TD7685 DECT 6.0 Portable Stations working in conjunction with the KX-T1055 DECT 6.0 2-channel cell station units. Do I have to CLIP Generate the range over again once I’ve connected the DECT stations to the DLC16 card?

Can anyone confirm the step by step process so I can get this done properly, without incident?

Thanks as always!

Just de-register the old ones like you said, without deleting the extension numbers, when you de-register, the extension numbers will remain in the system on that same page.

Get the new cell sites installed and register the new cordless' to the each extension, all extension programming should still be there with the new phones.

I believe the TDA100 has to be a certain version to accept DECT, so check that first.

Thanks Astro -

I figured that out once I deregistered everything then I went searching for the old hidden cell stations to remove. I'm in the process of installing the new DECT Cell Stations and re-registering and parelleling extensions as I go but I noticed when I registered the second Portable Station extension then went off hook, the light on the nearest Cell Station didn't show activity and it sounded like I was out of range even though I was right next to it (green light on). To confirm, I unplugged the Cell Station and it had no effect so I was obviously connecting to a far-away Cell Station. I tried to program the Portable Station to "auto" which I assume enables it to pass off from weak Cell Stations to nearer ones but that didn't make a difference.

What is the proper procedure for "registering" these things so they connect to the nearest Cell Station as you roam, or at minimum, how do you identify a "home" cell station? I see each cell station appear as a number as I add them but I can only assume the lowest number correlates with the lowest port and the highest with the highest port but I'm not even sure about this. This is not as simple as it looks!

What am I missing here?

By default the portable station should connect to the nearest open channel. Make sure that the system is seeing that new DECT cell site, and I always name the cell sites for future reference. Make sure that all of the dip switches on the cell site are right (I think all to the left).

You're not hooking up any of these new cell sites to the csif8 card are you?

You may have a different issue. If you are a certified dealer, there is a tech note, Document No. TN-KXTDECT-0408-1, which explains the 12 step procedure to migrate from 2.4GHz (FHSS) to DECT US6.0, on the Dealer Website.

Thanks ictelco - I'm still baffled why ONE of six DECT cell stations works - it is the only one that works though they all show up in the system. So by running through the 12-step procedure all six should start to work? Why did one of them work without the procedure?

This is something I have not done, so I'm just going by the tech note. It mentions to make sure the system is up to the correct version, which could be 3.2 even though vers 5 is available. It also mentions that the DLC/DHLC cards are at the most current version 5.002. Maybe one of the cs is on a card that had been updated to 5.002? Do you have access to the tech note?

Yes I read the tech note and installed a new DLC16 card which brought the software version to v 5.002 (old card was 3.001). Began to follow the steps in the tech note and it asked me to save a DSYS file to my PC which I named "DSYS" and saved to the desktop. Then it asks me to "Open The saved SYS file in Batch mode ( PCMC->File->Open-> saved file)". I'm stuck here - I don't know how to open it nor do I know what batch mode is.

Hold on a minute....... Again, I have not done the conversion, so this is only a comment. The procedure clears the master cs registered on the system. The process is involved enough that you may be opening a big "can of worms". This might be something to see if anyone else has done the migration and has had success. Part of the process requires reinitializing and reloading a dysys sub file. If you've not done this before, you may get somewhere you'd really rather not be! Maybe someone else will post with their experiences. Thanks

Thanks again - It's all figured out - it IS necessary to follow TN-KXTDECT-0408-1 if you have had 2.4 gHZ cell stations (KX-TD0151) connected to your DLC16 card in the past and want to migrate to DECT.

ictelco you saved the day with this one...
