Thank you all for this amazing resource; I just discovered it today, searching for enlightenment. I'm not new to Panasonic, but this one sure has me feeling like a newbie. An inherited D816-6; customer moved the sys himself (Wiring Mode = Rat's Nest), called me out to make it work. I defaulted the KSU, got it and the TVS50 playing fairly nice, but I can't get the CID to show on the phones. First time I've encountered CID on one of these older units. I enabled CID in sect. 406 for all CO's (only two of which are in use), but no dice. He assured me the CID worked at his previous location, and he does have CID service at the new. I know that's true because it shows up on a couple of SLT's he has hooked up. Wait ... could that be it??? Could an SLT connected right on a CO prevent the CID from getting through to the KSU, even if the SLT is not answered?? I'm clutching at straws. All suggestions are most appreciated.

Are you using key sets or slt on system, we didn't have CID cards for analogue lines on the 816/1232 here but on isdn it only showed CID on the key sets check the CID settings for fsk or dtmf format

The customer 'SAYS' it worked. But did it work on system phones, or just on the phones THAT WERE HOOKED UP IN FRONT OF THE SYSTEM. Check the system for a CID card. They were not a standard part of the system until release 7. And you need 1 CID card for each 4 C.O. ports, as I recall. It really is a no-brainer, if everything is set right AND the CID card(s) are installed. I suppose it's possible that the sl phones in front of the system are loading the CID signal so much that the Panasonic cannot read it.

Are there any LEDs or solid state protectors on the CO lines? These will block the CID from working on the TD for some reason. Been there, done that.

If I remember correctly we had the same problem with a Pana. it seems it will only show on the first sta. (101 = op). and it has to ring also.

CID will show on any and all digital phones that ring for the CO line. If slt's or any other device's are present in parallel with lines, remove and test. Logging is to the lowest ringing jack number.

Thanks for the tips--I'll be back out there Monday and check things out. No, dummyme didn't check for presence of the CID card. Customer is more savvy than most, so I took his word for it. No LED's or protectors, but one of the lines is DSL. No SLT's on extensions, just ahead of the KSU. Digging deeper into the manual I found 110, Caller ID Code Set and 111, Caller ID Name Set. Room for 500 or so entries in each. Descriptions seems to indicate CID only works for callers whose numbers and names you have already entered in these sections. That's so cockamamie it just can't be so. But, what are these sections for then??

That's to provide a name where the telco only gives a number.

LightningHorse nailed it. I should know by now, Rule One (or at least a very low number) is: Never believe the customer. I checked. No CID card. Tearing out what remains of my hair. So... anyone got a nice KX-TD193 ( -6 compatible) they'd like to sell? Thanks to all.
