I've installed and enabled voice message card KX-TE82492.

I have disabled DTMF Integration [103]

I have recorded a common outgoing message (BV OGM 01) [722]

Please may I ask this question:

What programming code do I change so that, in response to an outside call, the system will play OGM 01 after a pause of 6 rings and will the record the external caller's message?

(Note: I want to play back the caller's message on operator's extension (ext. 201) only.)

Thanks for replying, kxtvet.

Yes. I have the manuals and software (not sure what you mean by 'help files' - I don't think that I have those.)

For information, I have been programming using a phone on extension 1 but I could use the p.c. if I need to.

So is it correct to say that I have to set up DISA parameters to allow the caller to leave a message?

Looks like I've got some more reading to do. The manual isn't very clear, so there's a lot of trial and error frown

Any clues you can put my way, please?

To quote from the User Manual section 1.5.5

"A common message area is where callers can leave messages for the company. When an outside (CO) line call is automatically directed to the common message area, or when a DISA call is redirected to the common message area via Intercept Routing, the caller will hear a common BV OGM and can leave a voice message. Only the operator or manager can access the common message area to play back or erase caller messages."

The bit above (in bold) suggests that you can simply direct an outside line call to the common message area without recourse to DISA.

Great if this is true, but I can't see how to program it this way.

you program the line mode 414 to disa ogm 1 and record ogm 1 as, thank you for calling please hold (or something like that)

make sure prog 510 and 507 is set to intercept.

then set prog 438 to bv common 01.
set disa wait time to 0 in prog 505

the manual is not very clear on this, but it should play ogm, intercept to main ring table, then after 20 seconds go to bv01.

it said some thing in the book about bv or ring table. it may be that if the irna is set to a bv it will send it straight to the answering machine.
I don't have one here to test, so try it and let us know the out come

because the system has to answer the call first I found that the kxtea using the svm card as an answering machine is a big pain, so I just put a standard answering machine on an extension port and use a NCP or TDA for anything requiring more than 1 phone to ring and then go to VM

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply.

Your thought (above quote) is one that I will experiment with. It might take me a day or two but I will report back with the outcome. I feel that if I lose the requirement for a pause before the answering machine kicks in then life might be simpler.

Appreciate your help.

If you set the CO line mode [414] to BV, then the system acts like a normal answering machine. Caller hears the common BV OGM and then leaves a message after the tone.

However, in BV mode, the caller hears the OGM immediately. You can't set the phone to ring for a bit before the OGM so that if someone is in the office they can pick up.

I'll experiment some more but it does look as though I'll need to program DISA or UCD if I want to mimic a standard answerphone, as has been pointed out by OBT and kxtvet.

you are not to set 414 to bv01, you set it to disa with ogm 1 and record a thank you message in ogm 1
