The last week of June a customer had a non storm related power surge that wiped out office equipment and a phone system PA amplifier, but not the Panasonic 824. Since then, intermittent calls in hear a steady tone (not a modem or fax squawk) and then when the system rings and the call is picked up, they can not connect to the incoming call.

I called each of the three lines 6 times this AM and got the noise 4 times. I could not isolate to a specific line because the calls could have rolled over. Does anyone have any ideas what is going on. I had warned them that the power surge may have affected some components in the system and problems could show up in the future. They say the problem showed up pretty much right away.

With all the variables involved, I am amazed when any voice and data technology works like it is supposed to.

Your KSU was "touched" by the surge as well. Be prepared to replace.

Thanks guys. Went on site, disconnected the three Co lines, dialed each line several times. Got a modem tone in the first call into the third line. It appears that the alarm system is sharing that line and is the problem.
