The application I am talking about is for a T-1 line. This line as installed by your local exchange carrier usually has two pairs of wire going into a simple common square wall jack. {Ed, what is the RJ number for that?)
If you read the manual for the Cisco Internet Access Device (IAD), it says to connect the T-1 to the IAD using a SHIELDED 4-pair RJ-45 jumper cable because this is an outside line that could conduct lightning into the building. The IAD unit itself is supposed to be properly grounded to absorb this. Also, for the same reason, you are supposed to keep inside lines and power lines away from the T-1 jumper cable. Also for the same reason, be aware that you could get a nasty lightning shock from a T-1 line if you touch it or even get close to it. This is all per St. Cisco.

Well, I do know this application end user is government - my customer is a distributor who simply couldnt find them. (small disty house) I did ask if these cables came with a sheilded jack but havent gotten an answer back yet. Thanks Mgere, I do work with Anixter daily as they are on their way hot-shotting me some 144 fiber today thats saving my rear! I typically prefer to buy direct from the manufacturer, but in this case it just hasn't seemed possible.
its the only pic i have on photobucket, ill get another one sooner or later : P

So do you want these to be a plug on one side and a jack on the other?

RJ-48C or RJ-48X (the "x" indicates the jack will loop-back on itself when unplugged)
