Hi everyone,

I'm new to PBX, currently we are using KX TES824 with 16 extensions (Moduled installed, using 1 Proprietary Telephone) and we have another spare of KX TES824. My question is, instead of buying KX-TE82483 module (3CO 8Ext),is there anyway that we can add extensions using our spare KX TES824 to our existing one? I mean using one (1) PT? If yes, can anyone here help me how to do that? I'm just thinking if there are some tweaks need to do in able to work it.

Thanks for your reply, can you tell me what card should I purchased? We already maximized the allotted expansion cards and the maximum extension for this pbx which is 24. Im just hoping that there is a way that it can be integrated to second TES824 in simple and cheapest way. I found something called Asterisk but it seems expensive impractical for us.

if you have the 24 extension in already then it is full, you will have to look at a new system.

astericks is a free sip pbx, but you will need a server, sip phones and line interfaces.

A older kxtd 1232 could do what you want. other than that you will need a tde or NCP

The 824 product is just that, 8 lines 24 phones. you can't connect the first 2 lines in series because they don't supervise (mark each other busy) between the cabinets. In a severely obscure way, you could make 2 lines of a second 824 be extensions off the first 824 and grow the extension size to 30 (as in 8x22 and 2x8) but don't do it. You'd have other problems, like disconnect supervision and different dialing plans. For what you pay for a pair of disconnect modules and the waste, you can just buy a TD-1232 on the secondary market with 2 8-EXT modules for 8x32. YMMV.

As far as a TDE or NCP (the current Pana product) you'll find that you can probably buy the used TD-1232 box for less than the price of 2 new 16-port Single Line extension modules.

This is a Panasonic dealer question. We can tell you what to do, but not how. If you don't understand the concept, call your dealer.

Does it mean if I have the following below, I can maximize the extension to 23+8 extensions?

1- PT
1- Telephone line

Get it out of your head can NOT use 2 824's in tandem ... The right thing to do is get a Panasonic KX-TDE 100 configured 8 co by 48 hybrid ext's or possibly a fully expanded Kx -td 1232

Absolutely! Plug in two 824's and you have 32 extensions. Expand the second box and you have 48 extensions. The numbering plan and the intercabinet calling is zero, the trunks don't share, but you can work 48 extensions.

Buy 2 of everything, or 1 TDA-1232 or a newer product with MSLC/SLC cards, but don't expect a miracle out of a fixed product. It's an 824 and I'm out of this thread.
