Hello. I have absolutely no knowledge when it comes to phone systems. I am a volunteer at a ambulance station and I was asked to check into adding voicemail into our current phone system. All I know is its a Telrad system. How do I find out about adding it or what do I need to find out for you guys to advise me?

Thanks for helpin
Charles

You need to know what Ver you are running, You can power down the system and pull the MPD card and get the info from the software module on the card. If you are going to add VMS then you need to get the correct ver to work well with your system. You will also need the programming software to assign the VMS port DN's to the system and also a OCD card with a mim mod.

You can find out alot just by locating the system cabinet. If it gray and has DKeyBX it is a digital system and more than likely we can find a voicemail for you. It system may need a upgrade or you may need a card but voicemail is available. Also what DTMF said if you do have a DKeyBX you will have a MPD card you can power down the system remove the card and the software level should be labeled on the memory cartridge. Now the bad news if you cabinet is labeled KeyBX 818 there is no voicemail for this system and if it is KeyBX 2464 there was voicemail in the past but its not worth trying to go down that road you will spend way to much time and energy for the limited features the 2464 voicemail had.
