I am the IT guy who will be responsible for setting up the phone system when we branch out to 2 locations, but I don't know much about phone systems. We are currently using a 818 with Imagen (I think) and have 1 spare. Should I even try to program the 818? I have about 2 months to mess with it.

I was thinking about Talkswitch 48-CA. It looks good on paper, but how does it really perform? Reliability is my bestest concern.

If your concerned with reliability then your Telrad is rock solid, Your Telrad can only be programmed with a pc and software and the Imagen has it's own keyboard and monitor for programming. The new Telrads and emagen are even nicer and you can migrate your phones and most of your cards to it, to find out what you really have power down the system and pull out the MPD and give us the system and release info. If your interested in keeping the Telrad either SS or myself can get you a programming kit and also provide tech support for a nominal fee.

Also tell us what you want to do when you add the 2nd location. IP networking comes to mind when you have multi locations. You may want to take advantage of the program Telrad is running right now. Telrad is buying back MPD/Memory Cartridge with a upgrade to the IPeX server.

Thanks for the replies.

dtmf:
We would like to keep the Telrad (or upgrade them) if possible. The problem is with programming it. I'm not sure if I will be able to do it. I will get more info on system on Monday. Also, can't I connect to the system with a DB9 (RS232) cable?

SSPhone:
I e-mailed you about the upgrade. With the 2 locations, it would be nice if we could forward calls from one system to another while using only one line.

Hmm... It seems that our spare system is a Synopsys, not a 818. On top of that, the Synopsys we have doesn't have any RJ11 ports. All I see are what looks to be like 2 centronics DB25, 1 RJ45, and 4 unknown (possibly COs) ports.

That changes things a bit. Back to researching for a new phone system.

Yes that changes things. The Synopsys was one of the discounued items along with all of the Station 20 sets (Square Black phones). But never fear I am sure we can get you what you need to install the other location.

This is esier to program. It's just plug and play. But no Voicemail for it. Unless you get one to hook up to single line ports.

It Works Just has some wiered glicthes in the ealrer versions.
