I am setting up a DK40i that I bought off of ebay for my ministry. I purchased the K5RCU2 card along with the KKYS for the AA feature. I have installed them and ran the software checks in program 00 and it responds with TMA45A - KEY1 so the system sees the new card with the AA feature.
I setup program 78 to answer all CO lines immediately but the AA doesn't answer at all.
I don't understand what I am doing wrong. I have been supporting our Strata VIe for 15 years which kinda feels like going from a 68 VW to 03 Ferrari. ;-)
I am sure that there is more I need to do here to activate the AA but the manuals seem to lack info on this.

Now you need the voice for the auto attnd. You have to have a digital announcer to play the message. Hook it to one of the slt ports. You do have a KSTU2 right?

The KSTU2 is on it's way. I guess I misunderstood the purpose of the KKYS, I thought it had a built in announcer. Wouldn't it at least answer the call and give dead air? Or does it have to have the KSTU2 to do that too?

p.s. once the KSTU2 arrives I plan on hooking it up to a PC based Voice Mail system. Is this going to work?

Looks like you spent money for nothing. Most Voicemail systems are autoattendents also. You didn't need the KKSY. The only way the builtin AA works is with a digital announcer hooked to one of the SLT ports the SLT answers and the digital announcer is just playing the voice. Now this PC voicemail you have, you need to make sure the voicemail that you get can be configured to the DK. There are many voicemails out there that say they intergrate to the Toshiba but he best intergration is the manufactures own voicemail. I this case the Toshiba Stratagy.

I haven't actually chosen the Voice Mail System yet. The Strategy is a bit out of my price range, (we are a rather small ministry), so I am trying to put together some things that might work well together. On the other hand, we may need to just sock away some funds for awhile and wait for it.
Apparently I need to add a digital announcer to this setup, (please forgive my ignorance here), is there an inexpensive one that you recommend?
Is Interalia any good?

i've stayed out of this so far but i can't hold my tongue. it's my humble opinion that you need an experienced tech to get up and running. we could help you and eventually we might get the thing to run properly. if you do have an experienced toshiba tech in your area it would be money well spent. he could teach you a lot and save you a lot of time that you could devote to your ministry. just my two cents

The built in AA will only answer a call and transfer it, no voice mail with this. any time I have set this up I have used a viking DVA, actually two of them because you want to maek sure you can answer more than one call at a time. keep in mind also that the Toshiba AA will not work with a T1 or any tie type circuits. The AA only works with copper loop start or grouns start lines. there are many Vm systems on the market that will work with Toshiba. you can try the EVM 2 port this unit only cost me 300.00 and works pretty damn good for the price. Amanda works great as well but can be pricey!, if you can find one cheap I can tell you how to default it. as for the programming that's not hard but until you have a suitable solution in hardware I wouldn't attempt it. check Ebay and the internet for some used voicemail systems and once you aquire one then repost and I'll try to help you out.

Ebay has an Interalia Digital Voice Announcer DMU-2RAB with no minimum on it. Looks like it would do what I need for mega cheap. What do you think?
BTW, the KSTU2 came in yesterday, I will install it on Monday.

Martin, I appreciate where you are coming from. I do have some experience in this area. I just have some catching up to do. I was the system administrator for an AT&T System 75, with around 500 stations, for 6 years in one of my previous careers. I have a certificate buried around here somewhere to prove it ;-) . After that, the same company moved me into PC network administration. I supported a fleet of 100 laptops in a foodservice sales force as well as the in house network.
My biggest hurdle right now is the learning curve to catch up on what has been going on in this area for the last 10 years as well as refamiliarizing myself to the Toshiba way of doing things.
I am very persistent with this stuff, and be assured, I very much appreciate any advice you give me.
Tks :-)
