Now don't take this the wrong way and I don't mean to be rude but if you are going to install MOH on many different systems why don't you join the manual club? For a one time fee you would have 90% of you answers.

Now to answer your question, if you are using a relay control then you need to use program 77-1 and set LED 05 to ON. If not then plug it in the RCA and then turn the VR1 to adjust the level. If you are going to use it for BGM there is a couple of other program you will have to set.

I am in the manual club, but when you have a tech that has been at a site for 2 hours or more and just needs to find the moh port or needs to program the moh feature, I need the information quickly. For someone who isn't exactly telephone savvy, the manuals can be a bit of a challenge to figure out. I usually post on the message board while scouring through the manuals looking for the answer. If someone on the board is familiar with the system and can give me an answer off the top of their head, then it saves my time and my tech's time.

I usually don't post that much but we have a 200 location rollout and the installers we are using decided to not inform their technicians of the systems they would be working on so it is up to us to research each system as it comes up.

I do appreciate all of the help everyone has given so far and hope I haven't been an inconvenience to anyone.

It sounds like you might need new installers...
MOH programming on most systems is about as dumb-simple as it gets...
Usually just plug it in, tell the system it is there, and walk away.
Oops, left out adjust the volume level...

My feeling is that you may not mean MOH. Since you used the words "External" you may actually mean backgrond music. In any event it is an easy fix. Drop me an email and I can make sure you get some help.

I'm starting to think that too! Oh well, at the end of this rollout, maybe my team will know how to program every phone system for moh!

Genius,
From the many posts that have been made by IOHI, I can tell that they are a vendor of MOH recordings/equipment.
MOH is what they are doing.

Yes - we are a message on-hold company - providing service and equipment. I use the word "external" because I konw a lot of phone systems have an internal moh feature. I want to be clear that we are having a message on-hold unit installed externally - not that we are needing to know how to turn on the internal feature on some systems. I hope that makes sense!

IOHI:

I think you're in a situation where the blind are leading the "can't see nothin's". Your're contracting people who can't see, and don't know---and you're trying to instruct them---but you haven't ever worked on those systems either. Just because a person picks up a few words doesn't make them a telephone tech. In talking to a few telemarkerters --they told me that they could telemarket anything--all they had to do was learn a few of the words. Yeah---right. That's why everyone hates telemarketers.
What is happening to the guys/gals who are maintaining your clients phone systems?? Is every one of your clients without a person who takes care of their phone system?? If they are, then you should be the one to get them hooked up with a person who knows their system--wouldn't that be the smart way of going about it? Use this board to find some good installers. Sending a person out to work on a system that he/she knows nothing about--and spends 2 hours out there--is foolish. Any MOH install should take 1 service call---period. Done. Finished. If I'm contracted to go out to a phone system that I haven't worked on, I make absolute sure that I have PROFESSIONAL phone support --someone who knows that system inside & out--and know and understands my capabilites. If that is not in place---I don't move. I'm not going out to a place & be embarrassed. We have been in this business since 1987---we work on many more systems than maybe we should---but I would NEVER go out to a place, alone, that had a system that I had not seen nor worked on--and try to put MOH on it. You're making it hard on everyone--including yourself. Just my 2 cents.
