Hello all:

We are moving to a new location where we will have 48 offices (i.e., digital ports or telephones) instead of the 32 we have now. Currently we are using a 4-port Stratagy iES32 VM. Can we make do with 4 ports or do we need to add more to handle the increase in users? (An upgrade to 8-ports via remote by Toshiba is in the $2.5-3K range). Thanks in advance.

It really depends on what your using the Ies32 for, is it answering the incoming callers? How are your phones handling the calls ringing to them? Ring then go to voicemail? You need to determine the type of users you have, heavy, moderate, & light. Then the number of lines you have. And if you are or aren't using the Auto attendant feature. I've seen companies that have 48 users and 6-8 phone lines that don't use AA. And then again I've seen 48 users with a PRI & T-1 using indepth AA.

Usage is light to moderate, typical basic use whereby all the busy or no-answer calls are diverted to voicemail. Basic AA use, i.e., no PRI and T-1 or advanced AA functions. Number of lines is 6, will be upgraded to 8.

Sounds like 4 ports should work for now. You can always upgrade later. Cash flow may dictate that................

I would agree with Voyager if you want a 2nd opinion. You will start to see problems when you don't have enought ports just be prepared to act fast at that time or deal with the complaints. The other option is be pro active and do it now if as voyager stated cash flow is not a problem.

Thank you all very much for your responses! We've decided to forego the port update for now. Save money instead of getting capacity that we won't need really.

On a matter related to our move: I was talking to verizon to reserve new set of DID numbers and the person there asked me to get info regarding our current system, specifically if our system was wink, immediate or delayed; dtmf or dt; and the digit outposts and restrictions. Where can I get these info? I have downloaded the ctx670 configuration files and am reading through them. Once again, thank you in advance for your assistance.

Your installer can give you that information. Generally the parameters are B8ZS/ESF, Wink start, DTMF with 4 DNIS Digits.

Again, check with your certified Toshiba technician who will be installing the T-1 card in the CTX and doing the cut-over.
