Trying to find out how many ports I have open on my two RSTU cards. If I look at the PDN Table View it shows all 8 ports have been assigned a # on the 1st card (0304) and 7 ports assigned a # on the 2nd card (0305). Does this mean if it has an assigned # then it is being used? Sorry for the ignorance. Maybe there is an easier way to tell? Thanks, Russ

Thank you for the reply. I was hoping there would be a way in the Strata WinAdmin software to show me if they are or not. I am a newb in the phone world. I will try to trace the "pg tail" to the mdf and see if I can figure out the 16 ext #s. Any other ideas? Thanks again, Russ

The only thing you are going to see in the table how many are assigned , so you will have go the breakout as Ken said and see how many are hooked up and then you won't be sure until you intercom all of them to see if there is a phone plugged into them.

PS isnt there a directory on inhouse extensions?
So between walking around and looking checking the cross connects dialing the extensions comparing the in house directory your only dealing with 16 extensions you should get pretty close Also if you have a standalone voicemail , you may be using s/l ports for it

BTW, don't bother calling the S/L ports.....even if there not connected they will ring anyway, besides if they are being used by modems they might not answer if the PC's are on or set to answer. And don't walk around counting some S/L ports are doubled up at times, so a S/L port may appear in more than one location. Best bet is find the cable coming off the S/L card and trace it to the blocks, count the cross-cuts and if not labelled...mark them yourself.

this is a common issue especially when we are taking over an installation with no or inadequate documentation. keep a copy of system docs in a file at your office. i usually keep one copy on-site as well as one in the cust file. m
