What do you guys think about toshiba's ctx/cix system? Especially u guys familiar with the older toshiba systems. How does it measure up?

I'm still learning the system (2 years installing and still figuring it out!), trying to figure out all its features. Although its much more versatile and generally more advanced than the older systems, I've got a list of stuff which I feel are better/more stable in the DK series. Would this be an appropriate thread/place to post them? Or should I post em in the installers forum? Thanks.

First of all, this is the right place. I don't think you have access to the installers forum.

I was certified on the CTX right before it was released. I really like it. Its easy to program, and pretty bulletproof (maybe not as much as the DK40 [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com])

The only thing I don't like is that the ACD is a separate 3rd party product. Altough the ACD on the DK was very very basic, it was nice to have it already in the system.

The new Stratagy ies16/32 inskin Voicemail is very nice, providing unified messaging and fax server applications on very small configurations.

PRI is very easy to set up. And VOIP is pretty much plug and play, in my experience.

Can you tell I'm partial???

Let us know if we can help out........

I too was train right when ctx came out. In the beginning of ctx we went backwards but with processors that are easily updated old DKT 2000 phones and cards for DK able to be used on the CTX and Toshiba's commitment to be the best the CTX/CIX is bullet proof. ies is ok if you have good air flow in the box. Now with the emanager admin tool it much better and easier to keep clients info organized.

Bulletproof? hmmm... I hope so.

ACD and inskin stuff is rarely installed where I'm at. I can count the no. of call center and strategy installs on my right hand. Almost all voicemail installations are 3rd party stuff.

Agree on the PRI/VoIP easy install. Our commercially available ADSL line is terrible though. I've got a 512mb adsl line at home and when I connect to the BIPU-M card at my office, the voice quality is generally acceptable, but when I send an email or a little bit of surfing, the line quality becomes really choppy. Tried G711 and G729 with little difference.

Personally I like Winadmin better compared to E-manager, but that's probably coz I didn't get proper training on the new software. (more on this later)

I would like to know:

1) How can I do a program 40/41 from DK in a CTX/CIX system? LCR (prg 523-525), button assignment (prg 205) and FRL isn't a proper solution.

2) Why is the system "slower" than DK? When I intercom another extension (Tone First - Prg 204), sometimes it takes a while b4 ringing. Also, in my company with 200+ extensions, it feels "laggy" when getting a line to call out.

3) Why does multiple call group suck? Although a good feature, MCG isn't flexible enough to handle ringing assignments. (OK, i know DK doesn't have MCG, but they have prg 81-89 which are amazingly simple to configure)

4) Does forced account code work with different barring classes?

5) I have few customers mentioned, when a call is transfered to another (busy) extension, it gets forwarded into the auto attendant. Is there a way to disconnect the auto attendant to retrieve the call?

6) How do you call forward an attendant console to auto attendant/voice mail?

7) I face intermittant problems everyweek at work. System call forward doesn't forward to voice mail or doesn't forward at all (have to change to another SCF template), line cuts off during outgoing/incoming and intercom calls, analog line "hangs" (permanent red LED ON when no one is using the line, have to restart system), LCR doesn't always work (have to restart system), SLT ports hang during multi conferencing, PRI cannot call selected numbers (but when installed a CT, it can call those numbers).

...

EDIT: Wow, I just realised what a long post this is. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and feel free to "put me where I belong" as a new comer to this field. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]
