I am a complete nubie to phone systems so please bear with me. I don't know the security code for a phone xt. I am trying to reset vm for a new user. I tried to reset and delete the user id off the dk280. I dialed intercom 850, then ********* entered in default security code, select option 4 (administrate user id), dialed user xt, pressed 3 to reset user id (asked me to enter in user id again - hung up)- didn't work - still can't enter default security code on user xt. Did same process but instead pressed 4 at the end to delete account - did not change a thing either - still couldn't get past security code to access vm on user xt. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Again I am a nubie so please spell it out for me a little.

I believe you need to admin users then go to prompt 5 to reset the users security code and that would default the code

It didn't list a prompt 5. I tried pressing 5 but no dice. prompt 3 resets the user id but when I select it, it asks me for another user id - I enterred it a bunch of times selecting the same option. The password hasn't defaulted on the user phone. Any other thoughts?

You didn't say if this was an inskin DK voicemail plugged into the cabinet or some other tower sitting by the phone system.
You could have an Amanda or a DK Contact or a lot of other systems that use mailbox 999 for admin.
Can you specify the type of voicemail?
Thanks, Bunnie

You can go into the administrator mailbox 999 and change the password without deleting and recreating the mailbox. Only Stratagy uses the ********* not Amanda or the others that work on Toshiba.
The phone extension is the mailbox number and password.
One funny thing, if you are administrating a Stratagy on a laptop, you can't change the password until someone has changed the mailbox password using the phone.
I thought I was being helpful settting the passcodes to just three digits instead of the initialized six digits. No one could open their mailboxes. Bad Bunnie!
I deleted all, recreated all, had them change it to three digits at their own phone. Don't try to be too helpful when dealing with Stratagy VM.

I believe you. I plugged in a new Stratagy to replace a dead Teleco, created the mailboxes, put in the names, went to show them how to set up their mailboxes and the three digit new passcode would not work.
I went back and changed a couple to the default and they would not work when I went back to the phone.
Finally I just wiped out all the user boxes I had created and made them up again, went to the phones and used the six digit password to get in and change it to three digits.
I can't explain it, it makes no sense, but that is what happened and it shouldn't work that way it just did that day.
The strange fix was Friday. Came out with my laptop because immediately after the greeting ended, all you could hear was the bee-op, bee-op, bee-op hang up your phone sound.
Before I even plugged in the laptop, I recorded a new short greeting. My new message played and it went to recording.
Now can someone tell me how a person could record a greeting and get the bee-op hangup sound appending to the spoken words (it went on for more than two minutes.)
She recorded a new greeting and all was perfect, I'm stumped how she got the endless bee-op.
